 INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL) AND SKIN REJUVENTATION
Falling under the broad category of photo-rejuvenation, intense pulsed light is a non-invasive treatment that treats skin damage without disruption of the skin’s surface. IPL can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, leaving your skin smoother, clearer, brighter and “younger”. These include the signs of photo-aging or sun damage, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small veins, broken capillaries, benign brown pigment, age spots, mottled pigmentation, poikiloderma and other blemishes. The treatment works by stimulating the dermal layer of the skin to produce more collagen, which “plumps out” fine lines or wrinkles. Different light-based systems will work differently on different skin types.
How does IPL work?
A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and the smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to the affected area/s and pulses of light are applied. The light energy is transformed into heat energy which affects the chromophore in the target tissue. The target is fragmented and absorbed without damaging the surrounding tissue, leaving the skin smooth and rejuvenated.

When can I expect to see results?
An initial course of treatments may be needed to achieve the desired effect, and a further treatment every six months may be necessary to maintain the effect. To further enhance the effects of Skin Rejuvenation a complimentary Microdermabrasion treatment is done pre and 2 weeks post treatment.
Does it hurt?
The treatment may feel like a slight sting of a snapping elastic band. By incorporating the use of our Zimmer Cooler with each treatment we are able to dramatically reduce the discomfort and inflammation experienced with this treatment. Although seldom required an aesthetic cream may be applied or appropriate pain management is administered by our Aesthetic Practitioner.
What are the risks?
The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for each person can be determined only at the time of consultation with our on-site Medical Aesthetic Practitioner. By combining Skin Rejuvenation treatments with appropriate pre and post treatments with our Omnilux Revive and Plus programme, the incidence of side effects is minimised dramatically. In addition, this programme will ensure that the effectiveness of Skin Rejuvenation is enhanced and prolonged.
