Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers FILLERS

Dermal Fillers have become increasingly popular as a non-surgical technique to combat the signs of aging.  Fillers are injected under the skin to smooth lines, wrinkles and folds, shaping facial contours and sculpting lips.  Dermal Fillers are made from a variety of natural and/or synthetic materials and vary in viscosity and effect.

Non-permanent or resorbable fillers have emerged as the products of choice amongst both doctors and patients and feature either one or more of the following key ingredients:

  • HYALURONIC ACID
A naturally occurring polysaccharide found in all living organisms and is therefore highly biocompatible, safe and effective.  Found in the following brands Juvederm and Restalyne.

  • COLLAGEN
The structural building block for connective tissue in the body which provides support and strength to skin, bone, tendons and organs found in brands such as Evolence.  The injected material fills in missing collagen, raising and smoothing out depressions.

Does it hurt?

The appropriate pain prevention measures are taken by our Aesthetic Practitioner in the form of a local anaesthetic cream being applied or the administering of a nerve block.  The treatment time can vary between 30 minutes to 1 hour and may leave the treated area a little swollen and tender for 24 hours.

When can I expect to see results?

Dermal fillers are made from a variety of materials and as such, results last for anything between 3 – 18 months depending on the product and the amount used.  Results also depend on a patient’s skin type and facial structure, life style and own perception.

What are the risks?

Side effects include slight swelling and bruising of the treated area in some patients. By combining Filler treatments with appropriate pre and post treatments with our Omnilux Revive and Plus Programme, the incidence of side effects is minimised dramatically.  In addition, this programme will ensure that the effectiveness of dermal fillers is enhanced and prolonged and that the skin will simultaneously be rejuvenated.
